Please provide your answer and references please.
Rules being used: Arizona High School Rules (AIA) NFHS
Situation 1. Beginning of game 2, coach put his team on the court. While checking the lineup the R2 notices that the player in position 4 is not the player liste don the lineup sheet. The R@ notifies the coach and the coach says he made a mistake and asks if he can make a substitution. Should the R2 allow a substitution before the start of the game?
Situation 2. Late in Game 4 of a match (23-22) During a dead ball the libero exits the court and the player coming in for the libero enters the court in the close vicinity of 10 foot line. The R2 notices the player enter close to if not in front of the ten foot line. That team has used both of its timeouts already, whats the call? _________________ Volleyball is a game of mistakes. If I was reffing I would just say the hell with the rules and let both of those things go. It doesn't affect the game... |

| Sounds like someone is trying to get us to do their homework for them again. |

No, I've known gijig for many years if it's who I think it is. Very knowledgeable. |

Ok, yeah I should have looked at the age before making accusations. I've just looked up easily findable answers in the rulebook before for someone only to later find out I was doing their homework, and it kind of defeats the purpose of someone learning how to ref if I do their work for them. Sorry if I jumped the gun in this case.
But yeah, in general, I agree that these sound like the sorts of things you can let slide, but then I'm not so much a stickler for procedural things and personally care more about the sorts of things that the rules are progressively becoming less strict on (ball handling, net contacts, crossing the centerline, etc.). That's just me though. |

First situation:
Legal as of this fall. Never been legal before.
Second situation:
A preventable issue. Tell team to fix it. Tell them again. Then, if they refuse, it's an unnecessary delay/t.o. If they don't have a timeout, then yes, it's a point. But the NF doesn't expect a referee to bust a team for this like the ref would an overlap, net violation, or double contact. The NF rule book expects refs to help the team fix this. _________________ Coach Tom Houser
