There are some decent reviews of the drop bombs on em dvd itself...has anybody actually tried the techniques and/or put them into practice...
From the reviews of the dvd I now know that production quality is high,,,etc,,etc...
but has anyone actually used this technique in practice or games that can review the end result??? |

Since I didn't see the DVD I'm only thinking that the technique may be a similar technique that Pat Powers instructs on arm swing. _________________ "I''m handicapped on an overkill assignment...mobile, agile, and hostile. I''m still learning only, becuase I don''t know anything about volleyball."

| It is different than Pat Powers DVD (or in person). I haven't really tried the drills since most of them require an indoor gym and I play outdoors... Sorry that I can't answer your question since I started the whole Bombs Dropping mess.... |

| It's alright and does have some helpful suggestions I guess, but as I don't really practice all that much, just play a lot and mainly outdoors at the moment, I haven't actually set some time aside to actually try the method out in much detail either. |

I won't go into too much detail about the video...but I do want to say that I was extremely dissapointed with it. Yes, the production level is very high...the energy level is very high...but the level of instruction is not very high, and nor is the 'revolutionary' quality of this 'technique'. I found the drills to be ungamelike (something I am a big stickler on). I have gone out, after I got my cast off, and started working on this arm swing, to see what it is like. I have found, as some others have stated, that this arm swing is perfect in teh right situation...but I have not found this arm swing to be revolutionary in any sense, as most players do this naturally when the ball is set tight and they want to minimize their follow through.
Perhaps my biggest beef with the video was that there really is no instruction...it's just 'watch what I do, and copy it'... |

I do agree with vballtitan's assessment. However, I still can't put down the video. Most volleyball videos don't have good instruction OR good video quality and cost a lot more. Compared to what I have seen, it is as good as any and better than most. I have been very, very disappointed in volleyball instructional videos. I have yet to see Armswing Progressions by Chris Lamb though, but I would like to hear a positive review about it before I drop $40 + shipping. Hopefully Vballtitan's video will be the video to buy out there. Since I get to be one of the reviewer's, I am sure it will be haha. |

thx vballtitan...great reveiw...
That is the first thing I thought when I saw his video clip...how effective would this be in a real game..with blockers!!
I agree with awaken ...there are no decent volleyball indtructional videos out there...and why do even the not so good ones cost so much...
this sucks for us self taught players who are playing at a higher level and always trying to improve our skills...
-->slimshady..your half way there!!! (sounds like you shouldnt waste your points on this video anyway!!) |

Sorry to call you out but everything I show in the DVD I learned in the sand, with the exception of the wall drill. |

I am so looking forward to purchasing a copy of that DVD. If he only knew what a difficult project this was. Maybe then he'll appreciate mine a little more. |

More effective that you could ever imagine. And much more effortless. Faster, more powerfull, more consistent and accurate. 100% more deceptive. Speed control, trajectory, even ability to control magnus force. Most people feel a hitting % of over.300 is awesome. I feel thats garbage.
.650 is realistically an achievable number, only long term. Effective in real game against blockers? you ask. What blockers I answer?....What defense? They have no idea where you're going.....line, sharp angle, high hands, deep corner, or straight down? or how fast! Just slightly effective I say, but what do I know? |

Ah so that makes more sense to me now! Why the straight forward line of attack of the arm hitting technique versus opening up the shoulder and using an arc in the swing. _________________ "I''m handicapped on an overkill assignment...mobile, agile, and hostile. I moved from being a setter to hitting power. I can jump but at only 5`10 I was looking for something that would give me more power, faster swing and more deception.
I ordered the DVD about a month ago. Live in Japan and was surprised it was at more door in three days. I'm a P.E. teacher so have lots of time to practice, although mostly by myself in the offseason. After using it and putting in a lot of practice I do see a big difference, especially in power. I'm not hitting inside the 10 foot line yet, but I am getting good angles with power and a ball heavy with topspin. Still not consistant with the timing, but when my timing is on its like the ball just jumps off your hand with minimum effort. I've had opposing players comment on how they cant read me anymore, and how heavy the ball is.
I'm just an average player with a long way to go, but I'll keep working on it because I think it works, and that it was money really well spent. |

| Maybe I should give it another look one of these days, now that I actually practice ocasionally. Wondering how this would work for someone with essentially no vertical who hits all balls flatfooted. |
